C - German Historical Coins
The historical period of Altdeutschland, specifically concerning the mint mark C, covers a time of political fragmentation in Germany. Between 1750 and 1767, coins were minted in Cleves, influenced by Prussia. Later, from 1866 to 1879, coins with the mint mark C were produced in Frankfurt am Main, coinciding with the unification wars and subsequent centralization.
Different rulers were active during this time. A notable ruler was Frederick the Great, who reigned from 1740 to 1786 and whose coins often displayed the Prussian coat of arms. The mint mark C is particularly attractive to collectors due to its rarity and the possibility of completing a collection.
