Albert of Saxony
The coins from the reign of King Albert of Saxony (1873-1902) are an integral part of German numismatic history. During this period, Saxony became part of the German Empire and followed the new Mark currency, introduced in 1873. King Albert was the first Saxon ruler whose portrait was minted on silver Mark coins.
His coins are distinguished by their high quality and distinctive design, with the obverse featuring the king's portrait and the reverse bearing the crowned imperial eagle with the inscription German Empire. The edge inscription reads God with us.
